Parker, where have you been all my life?

images-1 If you are desperate for a quick Steve McQueen style “getaway”, then race off to The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, California.
The Parker resembles a quirky yet chic, psychedelic inspired setting.  With a series of meandering dirt paths, where you could spot Alice and Austin Powers playing a leisure game of hide and seek.
It was once a ranch owned by the famous singing cowboy, Gene Autry. Later in the 90’s, it was revamped- and called the Merv Griffin's Resort Hotel & Givenchy Spa. In 2oo4 Jack Parker, who also owns Le Parker Meridien in New York, purchased the property.
The Parker went through a 2.7 million nip, tuck and lift in 2004, (looking good isn’t cheap). Thanks to the keep eye of the kitschy interior designer Jonathan Adler.  The thirteen acres of grounds are lush, pristine and on any given weekend, you can spy on some giddy couple in love exchanging their vows of matrimony.
With over 144 rooms, two restaurants, four swimming pools, red clay tennis courts, a lovely croquet field and a wickedly gorgeous award-winning spa- chances of checking out are unlikely.
